Who knew that the boy and girl, living just down the road from each other, would end up getting married? But this is exactly what Brent & Alyssa did! You will remember their winter Connection Session Photos on Signal Hill, but this weather did not prepare us for the wedding day!
Alyssa made my little photographer’s heart sing when she said that they would like to do a first look, so after getting ready at their respective parent homes, we met up at Tokai Forest to do the first look, and allow for Brent and Alyssa to have a private moment to read their vows to each other. The weather had been a concern the entire week leading up to the wedding, and on the day it looked like sunshine was going to rain, but I kid you not, the moment I told them that I was done with their photos and we could go to the ceremony, the heaven opened up and big fat raindrops started falling down! But while Rucien and I were running for the car (cameras and water don’t mix well), Alyssa and Brent just strolled back to the car, without a care in the world. And why not? Alyssa and Brent decided early on that if they were going to be planning a wedding, it would be done on their terms.
The ceremony was at the gorgeous The Range Function and Conference Centre, where they promised each other forever in front of their closest family and friends. And if you ever had any doubt about the first look taking anything away from the actual ceremony, Brent will tell you that his nerves were back to where they were before the moment he arrived at the chapel. After the ceremony, all the guests, as well as the couple, were able to enjoy the cocktail hour before entering the reception hall, which had the most gorgeous travel theme. Both fathers of the couple provided such moving speeches, the love of their respective families for their son and daughter evident in the words that were spoken.
After we took some blue hour photos(no sunset in sight), the evening was partied away on the dancefloor, with Brent showing some surprising moves that I did not see coming!
Rucien and I only wish this couple all the happiness in the world, as they take on this new adventure together.
